CORE Market Implementation Programs

Water Treatment - Current Projects

As a part of the SAA, CORE is conducting a grant project entitled "Increasing Market Demand for Stormwater Products Containing Recycled Organics" (Enviromedia) in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Conservation (formerly Resource NSW), the Faculty of Engineering at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and the Recycled Organics Unit (ROU) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

The project has two dimensions: a technical research aspect and a market research aspect. Project supporters also include Soilco and Australian Native Landscapes.

  1. Identify the competitive products used in place of enviromedia;
  2. Identify water quality requirements for the range of suitable end-use applications;
  3. Identify indicative total potential product demand and the total realistic market demand potential for finished stormwater products and recycled organics input component;
  4. Identify and interpret social, economic and environmental market barriers and sensitivities inhibiting market uptake;
  5. Identify and assess marketing factors and the competitive environment;
  6. Identify marketing channels and structures; and
  7. Identify technical efficacy and longevity of enviromedia within the laboratory and from existing field sites;
  8. Identify the enviromedia a mix that maximises recycled organics content; and
  9. Identify a new field site for a new enviro-media installation to conduct long-term technical efficacy and longevity studies (not part of the grant project, but a future CORE objective.
